How does Botox® Cosmetic work?
Botox® Cosmetic is injected with a fine needle into a muscle or muscles that causes your facial lines and wrinkles. Once inside the muscle, it gradually and temporarily relaxes the muscle, resulting in softened expression lines.
What can I expect from Botox® injections?
- The procedure takes as little as five to ten minutes
- Mild discomfort may be felt during the Botox® treatment but will subside after treatment
- The effects of Botox® Cosmetic can last 3 to 6 months
- Most people see results within a week of a Botox® treatment but it can take up to two weeks to see optimal results
Are there any possible side effects?
- Bruising and headaches are possible side effects
- Bruising is more likely to occur in people who are taking blood-thinning medication or products that contain aspirin
- Headaches are generally short term and may be alleviated with an over the counter pain reliever
Can I resume back to normal activity after the Botox® treatment?
* Yes, many people go right back to work.
* We ask that you: Do not lay flat for 4-6 hours, do not rub the injection site, refrain from vigorous activity and exercise your facial muscles as you were directed at your office visit.
