Arlington, MA Skin Resurfacing

We are proud to utilize one of the only FDA cleared lasers for non-ablative skin resurfacing. Fraxel Laser Treatment is the latest beauty breakthrough to restore skin aging and sun-damaged skin. With this laser treatment, we are able to treat deep into the dermis stimulating collagen, with out harming the protective layer.

What are the benefits of this laser treatment?
This treatment helps diminish scaring, discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles. It has the ability to improve overall skin tone and texture. This treatment can be used on or off the face.

How does the laser work?
This laser technology was created to penetrate deep into the dermis without ablating the epidermis (the first layer of the skin). With this great technology we are able to treat all of the benefits listed above with little down time. The laser is broken up into tiny lasers that travel deep into the skin. The laser creates heat that causes fibroblast to react creating new collagen and new cells. The result is healthier, tighter tissue to replace unwelcome imperfections.

What to expect from skin resurfacing?
The practitioner will wash the treatment area and then apply a topical numbing cream about one hour prior to the facial treatment. Once the cream has taken effect, a thin layer of blue tint is applied to the skin. The purpose of this dye is to keep the laser in the targeted area, once the laser treatment is completed, it will be washed off. Some patients may feel uncomfortable during the laser treatment, but most find it quite tolerable. To aid in discomfort, cool air will be gently blowing on the skin. The results are instant and progressive. Depending on your concerns you will need between 3 to 5 sessions 2 to 4 weeks apart.

What will happen after skin resurfacing treatment?
Your skin will feel and appear sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. The length of time and intensity of this sensation depends on your treatment level and skin sensitivity. You are advised to treat your skin in a sensitive manner, but can resume to normal activity. You should avoid heat, intense sweat and direct sunlight. You should apply a strong SPF twice daily. You should stop using any aggressive cosmetic products, cleansers and creams while you are in-between your treatment sessions. Swelling should diminish within a few days, your skin may stay pink for a week or more while it heals.

  • Your skin may have a bronze appearance for up to two weeks.
  • As your new skin comes to the surface your old skin can peel, as it would if you had a sunburn.
