Arlington, MA Vein Removal
Will the laser vein removal therapy work on my leg veins?
There is no way to know for sure what veins will respond,
but our experience with this has been great. We have seen
optimal results with very satisfied patients, and our procedures
include spider vein, leg vein and facial vein removal. Several
vein removal treatments may be needed for some patients with
an interval time of up to eight weeks.
What does it feel like?
Most patients report the smaller vessels are comfortable,
but that the larger ones may sting. For this vein removal
treatment we use a chiller system which blows cool air onto
the treatment area to alleviate some discomfort. A topical
numbing cream can also be applied.
How long does the vein removal treatment take?
A typical session is about 30 minutes which and depends
on the size and the number of vessels or lesions you want
treated. It could take as little as ten minutes to one hour.
How does it work?
The laser will be set to target the hemoglobin. The beam
will increase the blood temperature resulting in coagulation
of the desired vessel. The cooling system aids in keeping
the skin protected to result in a satisfactory response.
What will my skin look like after? Will my veins or lesions
instantly disappear?
The treated area will be slightly red with mild local
swelling, but will subside. This is a desired effect. Depending
on your skin sensitivity and size of the target, it may take
a few minutes to a few days to subside. You should expect
the area to get worse before it gets better. The result can
sometimes be instant, but it may take a several weeks for
some veins to disappear. After 8 weeks if the area appears
the same, you will most likely need another treatment.
